We won the community budget you asked for
All your emails, comments, text messages, and conversations over the last few months came together last night as the City Council voted for a community budget that finally starts to fund our real priorities.
A huge thanks to all of you — you made this happen. Last night in a close 3-2 vote Vice Mayor Freddy Puza, Council Member Bubba Fish, and Council Member Yasmine-Imani McMorrin voted to fund:
Affordable housing. 93 new units of affordable housing in Culver City.
Parks and pools. Funding for lifeguards and new staff to support the Parks Master Plan.
Budget reform. A new process that invites real public participation in our next budget.
New bike lanes. First segments to connect Fox Hills to Downtown Culver City.
In addition, Council Member McMorrin brought up CCUSD’s request to close critical funding gaps in our schools, and asked Council to take it up before the start of the school year.
